Harbour Grace View
My
Grandfather was an amateur artist and painted in both watercolour and oils. He
bought me my first box of paints when I was five. I have a cottage at Go Home Bay and the
surroundings there have been the inspiration for much of my art.
My
father was a Professor of Architecture at the University of Toronto where he taught
painting and other aspects of the art side of architecture. He was a fine watercolourest and taught me a
great deal. We painted together at the
cottage for many years and when we returned home I received much constructive
criticism.
I
started to paint watercolours when I was twelve. I have had a number of one person shows many
in my mother’s house. I have had three
shows in Barrie and am planning a
fourth one for the spring of 2007. I
have also shown with the Markham Artists, the Lemonville artists and the Barrie
Artists, to all of which I belong. With
those groups I have had workshops with such artists as Peter Kolisnyk, Dennis
Cliff, Martgaret Roseman, Pauline Holancin,
Kai-Liis McInnis, Stephanie Rayner, Dorothy Clark McClure, Mary Wood, Jill Segal and others.
I
am presently the Chairperson of the Barrie Users Group Digital Imaging
SIG. We are learning how to take better
digital pictures and enhance them on our computers. I have had a computer for a number of years
and I am interested in ways of combining computer graphics with my art. (I don’t have a web site yet.)

Farm at Lemonville
A
lot of people have my pictures by now.
One of the joys of painting is to go visiting and find one of your
pictures on the wall. One’s art never
stops changing and, one hopes improving.
When you learn to do some aspect of the art, it is time to try something
new.
