Being born into a family of artists, I was inspired and encouraged to draw and paint at an early age.
Following in the footsteps of my father I pursued a career in graphics. Teaching drawing and painting to both children and adults followed. Commissions to paint wall murals and the opportunity of illustrating a children's book have been enjoyable experiences.
My favourite outlet is to paint outdoors "on location" inspired by the diversity of subject matter all over Ontario. Forests, rivers, ponds, bays, lakes, farmland, roadsides....all challenge my desire to SIMPLIFY the subject at hand. I am attracted by light and shadow, shapes and textures.
I also enjoy working with models in the studio discipline of "life drawing".
Whether working from the human form or from a landscape, whether by drawing or by painting, evoking movement and emotion, mood and LIFE is an ongoing quest that I never tire of.
