Lillian Petrie Richardson was born and spent her early years on a farm near Vegreville, Alberta. The variety of vibrant colours in the fields of wild flowers and long grasses on the Canadian prairies were a constant delight to her. The spectacular skies and distant, terrifying storms were inbedded in her youthful mind.

Since 1987, Lillian has studied with many prominent Canadian and American artists. She is a member of the Markham and Lemonville Group of Artists and her works have been displayed in juried exhibits. She has also had successful art shows at the Chalet Studio in Claremont, Ontario.

The unpredictability of watercolours, the vibrancy of acrylic paints and mixed media provide inspiration for her works. She captures the essence of her subjects through the use of vivid colours and the spontaneous flow of movement. Many of her paintings are creations of memory, musings and mood.

Henri Matisse once stated "Colour was not given to us in order that we should imitate nature. It was given to us so that we can express our emotions."

Her works hang in private, business and corporate collections in Canada and the United States.
